Why Simply Creating Beautiful Things Isn’t Enough To Get Clients to Book You
Today I want to share something with you that you might find helpful.
I had several sales jobs before I started my creative business. I never enjoyed selling, but I learned the techniques to do it because I had to - it was my job.
When I started my creative business, I thought that my days of having to sell were over.
I thought that if I created beautiful things - the people would come. How wrong I was.
After a few months of crickets waiting for my stampede of customers, and as the bills piled up, I realised my days being a salesperson were not over.
I was naive and it stung to realise that no matter how good and unique my products were, they won’t sell unless I made it happen.
So with the same anxiety I had before when selling something for the first time, I started to put myself out there. I found ways to find clients and connect with suppliers, planners and venues.
It was a humbling experience.
But, over time I started to see the clients and bookings come in and my anxiety waned as I learned how to sell in the right way for me and my business.
I also told myself that it was my job to sell my services, but that this time I am selling for ME. This helped my mindset a lot.
There was a happy ending, years later I was able to get clients easier by providing excellent customer service and receiving referrals. Some of my clients did come knocking!
I always say, when starting any new business or new project - there is the hard part.
Oftentimes, the ‘hard part’ is overcoming our insecurities and imposter syndrome and just simply getting out there and networking and selling what we have to offer!
This is why I have created a FREE checklist to get your first client fast.
This checklist is also a fantastic tool for when you are going through a slump as an established wedding business owner.
You can grab the <<Free Checklist >> over on my Resources page here.
I am wishing you all the best in showing up for yourself and your business. As always, please reach out to me if you need any help with the checklist at: weddings@roseyandco.co.uk

P.S. I also have a << free training >> in my Free Facebook Group for wedding pros here, where I go into more detail on the checklist and with even more tips to get you on your way to your first client!
