As Classic blue wedding inspiration with soft candlelight, beautiful glassware and elegant minimal florals and stationery.

The 2020 Pantone colour of the year 'Classic Blue' was the inspiration behind this elegant affair at The Royal Livingstone Resort.

"A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute.

Beginning with the invitation suite I wanted to highlight the beautiful lush foliage that surrounds the venue and the banks of the Zambezi. Using this as inspiration I created a simple leafy illustration in a pale blue for the invitation with an elegant calligraphy font. I added rose gold wax seals for a touch of luxury. Luxe pearl envelopes were used with a soft sheen that paired perfectly with the wax seals.

Keeping with the minimal paired back approach I created simple menus and place cards combined. Using a classic blue inspired ink for the menu text with a minimal font. The guest names were printed at a right angle on the same card in an elegant script font with a blind-embossed line to separate the name from the main menu. When creating simple clean stationery, I like to use debossing and embossing techniques without ink (blind). I use these techniques to create borders and separations within the layout whilst still adding an element of artistic detail.
