Outdoor Vibrant Wedding at Boutique Resort in Zambia

Today I am sharing some real wedding inspiration that surely will have you contemplating a destination wedding in Africa! We know that the popular destinations for weddings are France, Italy and far-flung places such as Thailand, but what about Africa? Trust me when I say, this is 'the' wedding destination of the moment. This Outdoor Vibrant Wedding at a Boutique Resort in Zambia will inspire you with its elegance, culture and traditional romantic touches.

FEATURED ON BRIDES

Alice and Armin were married not once but twice and you can see their lush traditional wedding in Rwanda here. Alice and Armin's wedding celebrations spanned two countries and seven days and were planned and creative directed by Love From Mwai. I was both honoured and excited to be chosen to create their wedding paper. The multitude of events and unique characteristics of each one - was simply a creative dream!

“The couple, who lives and works in Belgium, asked London-based stationer Rosey and Co. to design distinct invitations for the wedding in Rwanda as well as the multiple events, each with a different style and theme, in Zambia”

- BRIDES

The couple did not wish to have traditional embellishments such as wax seals and ribbons, so for the wedding invitations, I painted the Victoria Falls in watercolour. With one of the seven wonders of the world being a part of the wedding it was only fitting that they showed up in the wedding invitation! I layered the text over the top so that the painting could take centre stage.

The save the dates featured the Gorilla's native to Rwanda and the lush greenery. All of the dates and details of each event were printed on the reverse. I designed the save the date text in a mid-20th century travel book cover style.

The wedding ceremony was set on a beautiful island with the guests watching on from the other side of the lake. The couple walked across a little bridge covered in flowers and sat underneith a lush floral arch. One of my favourite details in this wedding was the wooden boat also overflowing with lush florals!

The wedding reception was held in a glass marquee and was stunningly romantic. I designed elegant round menus that had ornate place cards affixed atop with gold and purple tassels. The menu's for the head table had an additional purple ornate frame surround adding an extra pop of romantic decadence.
