When my friend and colleague Mwai invited me to design a collection for her new homegoods store, Efie, I jumped at the chance.

I knew her new venture will offer quality artisanal goods and have ethical policies and to top it off Mwai will be donating 10% of the profits to build community workshops in her home country - Zambia.

I hadn't designed for a product range since I collaborated with Anthropologie back in 2013/14 which I loved and I used that experience to offer a wide range of styles while still keeping with Efie's unique brand aesthetic.

The Paintings

I created the paintings in watercolour on Winsor & Newton watercolour paper. My favourite was the Maasai warrior, I am so pleased with how it came out and I love the rich colours. Sadly the paintings and postcards are all sold out now. Another favourite of mine is the 'Efie Weekender Bag'. I wanted to create something with stripes and these stripes are a unique twist on classic straight stripes. I love the summery feel of this bag. Another favourite of mine is the pink ornate foliage 'Blush Weekender Bag'. This design is a gentle nod to my wedding stationery designs with its romantic feel and fine art style.

For the 'Home Latte Mug,' I wanted to create something a little more quirky and fun so I illustrated the little elements above the wording in an almost 'undone' way. I wanted it to have a bit of a playful feel with the quirky elements

Most of the artwork for the products (except for the paintings and postcards) was illustrated first by hand, I then scanned and edited them in Adobe Illustrator.
