Rustic African Boma Wedding Inspiration
Unique styling, combining two cultures and in a setting next to Victoria Falls - this Editorial Wedding Shoot was a dream for me to collaborate on with Planner and Creative Director Mwai from Love From Mwai. This exclusive shoot allowed me the opportunity to create designs that are original with a nod to the welcoming and warm African culture.

For this editorial shoot, I decided to play with the unique placement of the text within the layout of the designs. I wanted to tie in Africa's beauty along with the rich colours of the Boma setting whilst intertwining the modernity of the shoot that the team so elegantly produced. A sleek bold type was paired with a modern handwritten script font throughout the stationery.
I tend to favour to Save the Dates are distinct and really catch the eye. They are the very first detail that your guests will see of your wedding so they really do set the tone for the day. For these save the dates I referred to one of my favourite art techniques of paper collage. Shimmery gold circles were layers onto warm rich brown circles symbolic of two hearts and two cultures joining together. A monogram of the couple’s initials held centre stage with the most important details of the wedding below.
I carried the same design techniques through to the invitation suite and the 'on the day stationery. For the invitation card, I let the beautiful bold type hold centre stage again with the couple’s names printed in gold onto a gorgeous cream-toned plush cardstock. The details card and response card again allowed me the chance to play with unique placement and the use of white space. The suite was then encased in a wrap of flecked handmade paper and tied with cream-silky twine.
Complimenting the circle paper layering on the save the dates, the place cards also had some unique curve appeal. The modern handwritten script perfectly paired with the curve of the satiny cardstock.
Double-layered menus were finished with rich brown circle detailing. The top layer displayed the feast that awaited the guests on the same flecked handmade paper used for the invitation suite wrap. I love how the circle detail mirrors the wooden glasses that adorned the tables.
The final element of the stationery ensemble was the table number cards. Maintaining the modern curved theme and with smooth rich cardstock in corresponding cream, I again focused on the elegant use of type and kept the colours neutral allowing the exquisite table decor to take centre stage.
